14-16 July – Rozhen 2023
In the days from 14th to 16th of July in the heart of the Rhodope Mountain – Rozhen meadows will be filled with folklore – traditions, culture, history, songs and many dances.
This year’s edition will mark 125 years since the first Rozhen gathering held in 1897 on the initiative of Father Angel Indzhov from the village of. Sokolovtsi. The council was then held as the first tribal meeting between clans separated by the then Turkish border.
Enjoy this magic and don’t miss this iconic event that brings together people with a love for folk art from all over Bulgaria.
The organizers of the event have prepared a rich program, and the traditional National Folklore Competition for singers, instrumentalists, folk dances, customs and verbal folklore will be held. Exactly at 12:00 noon will be the big Rozhen choir. Visitors to the event will also have the opportunity to enjoy the colour of Bulgarian folk costume in the competition – Authentic male, female and children’s costume. There will be entertainment for children – Children’s workshop “Rozhen”, Historical and ethnic reenactments – “Bagatur” spectacle, Nestinar Show.
Under the night starry sky of Rozhen we will enjoy the two big concerts on 14.07 Friday – Musical and dance performance “Bulgaria is visiting the Rhodopes” with the participation of Atanas Yanchovichin and MFG “Banski starcheta”, Vanya Valkova, Gergana Dimitrova, Denislav Kehayov, Zhechka Slaninkova, Ilia Lukov, Nelly Andreeva, Nelina, Petya Paneva, Sorina Bogomilova and Hristo Kosashki.
On 15.07 Saturday – Music and dance performance “Starry Rozhen” with the participation of FA “Rodopa”, Valya Balkanska, Petar Yanev, orch. “101 Kabba Gaidi”, orch. “100 Kaba Bagpipes”, “Kaba Kabadaili”, Dimitar Keremedchiev, Tincho Sevdalinov, Zlatina Uzunova, Yulia Kichukova, Kristina Engerova, Daniela Dimitrova, Svetla Dukateva, “Rhodope Spring” – Sevda Simeonova and Atanas Todorov, Zlatko Kafedzhiev, Philip Sinapov and Fidan Merov
For the guests of Hotel “Orfei” on the days of the event, there will be organized transport according to the schedule to the event and back, which will be announced in advance at the Reception.
You are advised to use public and organised transport to ease the heavy traffic on these days.
